Log day 3, First day in Omaha

May 3rd, 2017.
Today was a good one.
We slept well, the both of us in separate beds. Meaning that we slept each wholly in our own bed instead of separated between a few. If you don't get the meaning don't worry about it.
After waking up, which took us a long minute due to the long journey the day before, I figured out how to turn the shower on and then used it, while my companion figured out how to use the stove. Turns out he had used one before, and while my memory took a bit to come back on how to use a shower (i hadn't used one in a full days time) he seemed to remember just fine how to use the stove. He made an awesome breakfast of eggs and toast (We don't have a toaster so it was actually "fried" but "frieds" aren't a thing, so it was toast).
Then we headed to the office where we proceeded to climb through a mountain of paperwork. It took forever! Luckily i was able skip the portion about references and previous jobs. I mean, i have been hired already. The time for references was months ago. Funny side note, i found a typo in the paperwork. Hahaha
After filling out the papers our supervisor/team leader gave us some shirts. I am keen on details, and also it was cold and rainy outside, so i asked him about the policy on jackets. In response he pulled out a few coats. I tried on the large but my arms are longer than it was so he found an extra large. It was suspiciously zipped closed. Turns out the reason why was because every square inch of the inside was covered with dog hair. Now that is gross, and I am no dummy, so i tried it on inside out. We will see if the hair washes off.
Part of the paperwork asked about our vehicle. We remembered the license plates needed changing so we did that and realized the stickers were missing. So like good law abiding citizens we went to the dmv to register the vehicle. At the dmv a friendly senior citizen explained the waiting process to us. We waited. I read the traffic rule book. We waited some more. And then, after an hour, we realized they had "called" our number ages ago and we were in the wrong room. So we go stand in line again. Long story short the stickers were in the envelope in our car that the plates had been in. -_-
However, good came of it because there was a
Chinese restaurant next door. We ordered lunch/dinner and sat down to eat. After some skilled juggling by my companion we managed to organize the plates so we could each eat a bit of both. Then a lady and a child came into the restaurant. In the child's hand was a phone that was screaming. We assume he was watching something, but the noises coming out of the device didn't sound happy. Screams, yells, shouts of a monkey attacking a grandma.... weird.
Interesting fact about rice a small bite of rice on the fork looks small, but the moment it hits the floor it explodes into thousands of little individual pieces and looks like you spilled an entire plate's worth.
Then we went shoe shopping, because we are going to be walking a lot in the next couple of months, and let's face it. One pair of shoes might not last. I took longer to find the ones i wanted. There were a ton of shoes. Shoe carnival was the name of the place. We suspected that there might be mini clowns hidden in them, but so far none of them have jumped out.
The day ended watching pirates of the Caribbean 4. Watch it. It's good.
